Mammoth Cave Ride

We got up early on Saturday to meet up with some fellow Jeepers to ride through Mammoth Cave on our way to the Spring Car Cruise-In in Cave City, KY.

The event started out as a small idea at a local eatery, The Dog Pound. It quickly became too big of an event for the small venue and got moved to the Cave City Convention Center. There were tons of old cars, new cars, trucks, and food trucks.

I quickly found out that my daughter is a Camero fan. Every time she saw one, she would smack my arm and tell me to take a photo. I was busy trying to find one of my husband's favorite cars, the GTO.

We checked out the cars, listened to the live music, and grabbed some burgers and fries from the M & B Eats food truck. The cars and music were great, but if I'm being totally honest, the food wasn't. The wait was very long and they didn't ask what we wanted on our burgers. They were unseasoned and very messy. I only complain about the messiness because there were no places to sit to eat. The first bite I took, everything fell off except the burger. The fries weren't any better. The fry oil definitely needed to be changed. When I visited their website I was shocked to see their regular prices were MUCH less than they were charging at this event. I paid $8.75 for a combo of burger, fries, and can of soda. Their regular price for that combo is only $5.50. My daughter ordered a lemonade instead of a soda and we were charged for the combo price of her burger/fries plus an additional $3 for the lemonade (that was listed on their board at $2) with no kind of discount on the combo even though we didn't get a soda. I didn't even take any photos. So for us, M & B Eats from Frankfort gets a 2 out of 5 stars, would not recommend.

After we chucked the food and went back for ice cream cones instead, we made another round through the cars as more were coming in the whole time we were there. We decided to head home and stopped by Mammoth Cave on our way. I'd love to say it was because we wanted to do one of the shorter hikes, but I really needed to use the bathroom.

Overall, we had a great time. It was nice to get out of the house and be outside. Check out a little time lapse of part of our ride through the national park down below!
